With our mining tenements covering Barada Barna, Jangga and Widi country, Stanmore Resources acknowledges and pays its respects to the Traditional Owners of the land on which we operate. Working to ensure the land is cared for and returned to its original state post-mining is key to the valuable relationships we share with the Barada Barna, Jangga and Widi people.
Through a process of facilitation and recognition of the need for reconciliation, Stanmore is dedicated to developing a working and collaborative relationship with local Traditional Owners. Our goal is to provide genuine prospects through employment, education and training opportunities, and pragmatic business ventures.
Since 2016, Stanmore Resources has worked side-by-side with the Barada Barna people on cultural heritage mapping and clearances at Isaac Plains, and more recently across the Isaac Downs project from 2019 to 2021.
As part of the Isaac Downs project, we successfully negotiated Native Title agreements with the Barada Barna which enabled us to develop a deeper understanding of Native Title, cultural heritage and connection with the land, as well as gaining support for the mining approvals.
Stanmore has also committed to developing a Reconciliation Action Plan and has asked the Barada Barna to participate on the working committee. This process will strengthen ties with the Barada Barna people and pave the way for true reconciliation.
